The Goms Alpine passes.

Nufenen, Furka and Grimsel Pass.

Optimally developed alpine passes in the Goms region

For centuries, the Goms Alpine passes have connected north and south. The journey over one of our alpine passes is a unique experience. Experience the charm of these arteries of the Alps by motorcycle, racing bike, car, postbus, the Furka steam train or on a hike.

Furka Pass

The Furka Pass is the oldest of our 3 Alpine passes. It was opened in 1865 and connects the Valais with the canton of Uri. Some film scenes of the James Bond movie "Goldfinger" were shot on the Furka Pass in 1964. Since then, if not before, the Furka Pass has achieved cult status. With the Hotel Belvédère and the ice grotto of the Rhone glacier, two of the most popular photo spots of the Goms are also located on the Furka pass road.

Grimsel Pass

The Grimsel Pass connects the Goms with Innertkirchen in the canton of Bern. As early as the 14th century, the Grimsel Pass was used by muleteers to trade goods. In 1894 the pass was then converted into a pass road.

Nufenen Pass

The Nufenen Pass is the highest pass road, which lies entirely in Switzerland. It connects the Valais with the Ticino and begins in Ulrichen / Airolo. The Nufenen is the youngest of the 3 Goms Alpine passes and was opened in 1969.
